The woman has been, for many centuries, the favorite subject of a lot of artists and even if she is still the same, her image has evolved.
The woman is basically represented as a mother, carrier of life. In the oriental art, greek or egyptian she is the personification of beauty.
During the 12th and 13th century, the religious aspect became strong, often the woman was portrayed as the Virgin Mary.
Since the 16th century, the religious aspect is gradually forgotten and the women slowly became the object of desire.
However, this representation of the woman was, most of the time, the work of men.
In the 21th century, in occident, even if some representations of the woman are still stuck in a classical tradition, her place as a subject and object has strongly changed.
Women now play with their image, baby-women, saint-women, mother-women, hussy-women and they are at ease with their feminity.
Inversely, men now accept and claim their feminine side in their sociocultural and professional life.
The “Playtime Project” association offers to its artists to work on this theme to evade the cliché and to propose a new contemporary vision of the woman as a subject.
